They say that if you are active on social media, especially Facebook, Instagram, YouTube etc. or any of them, and can’t help but look at it, it’s a serious disease.
If you’re active on social media, especially Facebook or Instagram, it feels like you’re always looking at your phone for replies and likes.
If you often read Facebook posts or photos you have written, and see what replies and likes have been received, while driving, in office meetings, or when you are traveling, you may face some problems without knowing it. The data says that it will happen.
Many people who post statuses on WhatsApp have a habit of going every minute to see who has seen them. Understand that even though so many people are addicted to social media, there are still many of us who think that posting a status is a lack of status.
Shocking information has been revealed in a research conducted by the American University that because a person works in this way, the functionality between the two brains of the person is not balanced. The more you use it, the more damage it can cause. It will be reflected in their thinking and subsequent actions.
Researchers surveyed 341 students who spent a lot of time on social media. They started the research at the end of the first semester and followed each student’s studies and grades for a year.
At the end of the research, they found that micro-emotions were significantly affected by changes in the brain of students who used social networking sites more. Of these, 76 percent of students used social media in class and 40 percent even while driving. There were also many changes in their behavior as they constantly immersed themselves in social media and forgot themselves.
They were shocked to see that there were weak components in cognition. As the coordination between the two parts of the brain decreased, the students lost their balance and suffered greatly. The decrease in the ability to observe, which caused the students’ grades to decrease greatly and affected their studies and social interaction, said Prof. Ophir Touril of the University of California, USA.
If this is the case with students, 63 percent of the rest of the population will inevitably be using their phone while having a conversation with someone else. According to the report, 65 percent of people spend most of their time in the office looking at social media and reading instead of doing their main work. Researchers have advised people to use social networking sites including Facebook in moderation as it has been scientifically found that brain functions are affected.
This research report appeared in the Journal of Management Information Systems a few years ago. That is, the research found, when this social media effect doesn’t affect many people. Of course, if the results of this research are published now, the results of the study may be shocking.
Next time, don’t open social media and keep checking how many likes, how many shares, how many new friend requests. Make sure you only see so many times a day. It is indeed true that if you don’t get addicted to digital media like cell phones and use them only for your needs and technology with mental control it will lead you on the path of growth!
